In May 1985, a group of citizens concerned with the plight of women in crisis pregnancy situations met with the goal of organizing a life-affirming center to provide emotional, spiritual and practical help. As a result, the Care Net Resource Pregnancy Centers (formerly Peninsula Crisis Pregnancy Center) was opened on September 29, 1986.

The Center is affiliated with CareNet, which assists solely in an advisory capacity, and is locally governed by a volunteer board of directors. It is a non-profit organization that is funded by area individuals and churches. The Center seeks to encourage a pregnant woman to complete her pregnancy and either parent her child, place him/her for adoption or foster care. Peer counseling is also available for post-abortive women.

The Center provides free and confidential services by trained volunteers who operate under the supervision of an executive director and staff. Private volunteer peer counseling sessions are available on a walk-in basis.

During its first full year of operation in 1987, the Center served 165 clients. Since then, a dramatic increase in clients has occurred. For example, in 2005 we offered free and confidential services to:

• Approximately 500 families with pregnancy tests, peer-counseling, baby and material needs
• Approximately 150 young teens, women, and men that either attended or received a benefit from our Earn While You Learn Program, Childbirth Education Classes, Post Abortion Support, and Group Abstinence Presentations.

In 2005 the Center expanded its services and opened a Williamsburg Satellite Office at 1117 Old Colony Lane, Williamsburg, VA 23185. In addition, we changed our name to Care Net Resource Pregnancy Centers, Inc. We continue to offer Christ's love, compassion, and hope to those we serve.
